This is National Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 10-16).

One major patient safety concern is infection, particularly post-operative ones. There has been some encouraging news about healthcare-associated infections (sometimes referred to as Hospital-Acquired Infections), or HAI.
According to a 2017 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, threats to patient safety decreased between 2008 and 2013. Specifically, select surgical site infections and MRSAs have dropped.
The CDC says one area, however, that’s on the rise is catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), signaling a strong need for additional prevention efforts.
The CDC produced this handy infographic, which I think is worthy of re-publishing here.
